Just got home from Oshkosh week and wow - what a great time. This is the first year that I could get it there in the new RV10 so I took full advantage. I flew out and back with our Truckee EAA Chapter President.
We took just about everything that added to our creature comforts this week including - lawn chairs - tents (2) - lantern (w/fuel) - airplane cover -cooking gear - computers - oil - extra shoes - you get the idea.
Made it there in one day 1450 miles - 8:34 air time - en route and 9.02 on the hobbs. Wheels off at Truckee, CA 6:00AM PDT and landed OSH at 5:34 CDT. We had up to 202 kts ground speed. 2- fuel stops both ways.

This was my first real cross country (more than a run to the Bay area and back) - it is 2900 miles round trip
I spent a lot of time at the plane with other builders, wanna-be builders and owners - a great experience. Lovely people from Texas, New York, Portugal, Spain, Israel, LA, and Arizona. What can be better than going to the greatest airshow on earth in your own home built plane.......
I had a great position next to the ramp and a lot of folks oggled and ahhhhhed at the great paint job done by Kracon of Lincoln CA

I also flew out in 2005 in my 182 from Novato, CA. The differences are amazing........

Example (even subtracting for the differences flying back to Marin - about 1 hr each way) Payload on both planes is similar:

Time Round trip (Truckee-OSH-Trk) C182 23:00 hrs
RV10 18:45 hrs
Fuel Burn (adjusted) C-182 272 gallons
RV10 209 gallons
Fuel use per hr hobbs C182 11.70 gph
RV10 10.6 gph

the RV10 is an awesome cross country machine with comfy seats - a reliable IO-540 from Mattituck and good panel stuff from Tru-Trak (Autopilot) and Advanced Flight Systems (EFIS/EMS).
