Hi Matt-
This is a bit of a tangent, but I though you (and perhaps others) might find it useful. I have an -8 with an IO-360 and heavy prop, so fwd CG is a consideration. I would like to be able to (among other things) camp at OSH with tent and sleeping bags, while still having someone in the second seat. My solution was to hinge the aft baggage aft bulkhead to fold forward / flat and continue the aft baggage deck aft to the next frame. This allows me quite a bit of volume for high bulk / low density items like sleeping bags or canopy covers, without any undue aft CG hazard.
FWIW, YMMV, etc

Subject: Canopy Covers
Dear Listers,
I'm in the market for a top-notch canopy cover for the RV-8. I'm wanting the highest
quality materials and workmanship on the product. I want it for overnight
trips where it might rain so it needs to completely cover the front baggage
door. When folded up, I don't want it to completely fill the limited rear baggage
area in the RV-8, either.
I Google RV-8 Canopy Cover as well as looked at Van's Online catalog, and there
seems to be plenty of "options", but I'm looking for some empirical data on quality,
fit, and stowage.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
