Hello group. I've been quietly lurking around this list since I bought
a MarkIII Classic last spring, but now I am having a problem I hope
you can help with. I have a Rotax 582, and in one month, I have gone
through 2 oil reservoir caps (part 874 105 - I have it memorized).
They both cracked in the same place - right on the top in a circle
around the ROTAX name. Within one flight, the wind has blown half the
little circle up and I'm afraid any more flying and it will break off
and go through the prop.
Could I be screwing the lid on too tight? (I'm not that strong!) Am I
filling the reservoir too full? Am I just having a bad run of oil
reservoir caps? Anybody else have this happen?
Thanks for any help!

Hi Dawn
I too have had 2 caps crack in the same place.
I too think its bad manufacturing, vary thin were it has broken.
I used JB weld to keep it together like the guy before me did as I got tired of buying new ones.
Out in the Field when the new one broke I used some plastic from a zip lock bag ,( my sandwich bag )
and a hose clamp to get me home and keep my oil in the tank.
Good luck and don't forget the saftey wire to keep it there.
