I wanted to thank Bob, Gary, and Neal for setting up RV-10 HQ again this year. While the weather wasn’t the best at the beginning, it turned out to be a great week. Especially getting to see all the fellow RV-10 builders again. I also wanted to thank Brenda, Susan, and Ally (sp?) for hosting the dinners.
I hope those that stayed through the weekend experienced a great night airshow.
Counting down the days until next year…….

I would also like to personally Thank Gary,Bob,Neal and of course Brenda, Sue and Ally. The RV-10 HQ was in fine shape given the weather.
Gary thanks again for the use of your Tracker or (tractor). Enjoyed meeting the new and seeing the old faces again. Putting a name with a face really helps.
Great Job guys and many Thanks

I want to throw in my appreciation to those who coordinated the RV-10 HQ too.
Our plans originally had us staying at a cabin in Sleepy Hollow Farms, but that didn't work out. We were lucky to find a room in Appleton at the Holiday Inn. This cut down the amount of time we could spend with the fellow RV-10 crowd, but we had a great time when we were able to get over to 54th and Lindbergh.
I especially want to thank John Cox for providing local beer. After a full day of crowds and 100LL, it hit the spot.
Most importantly, I think the ladies really enjoyed themselves too. Despite having a fun little 3 month old boy constantly attached to her, Sara enjoyed herself. She also commented how much fun the RV-10 crowd was.
We'll see you all in 51 weeks, if not sooner.
Phil

Thank you all RV-10'ers at HQ. It is my first camping with you all and you all made me feel welcome. Good to see you all in person and put a name to a face. The discussions are very helpful. Special thanks to the ladies. Wanted to meet Tim and Scott and say hello, but missed them.
Neal and Gary, thanks for picking us from the gate with all the luggage. Bob C, thanks for co-ordinating all the HQ set-up and for driving us to the Bus Park and all the pointers in build process. Adrian, thanks for spending some time with me...see you & Mari in Boone some time...
Don, Dave (Houston), Bob L, John (9A), Mel, Brian, Deems, Bob N (TCW), Geoff, Susan (and the grand kids), Brenda, Alli (and the kids), Judy, Lenel...nice meeting you all at HQ. Will be there next year...

Man did Oshkosh go by fast. This year it seamed faster than ever before. I did not feel like I had the time to do hardly anything I wanted to do and hang out with everyone. Sorry I missed many of you at the dinner but it sure is great that we have the opportunity to hang out with each other at the RV-10 HQ. This year I was on Anna's schedule and I had a great time with her.
We are already planning next year and plan on flying out, the drive is definitely a long one.
My goal on Friday when we started to head home was to beat Sean and the RV-10 to the border of Minnesota before he made it back to Salt Lake and I beat him by about 20 minutes

Just a quickie to let you know we made it home to Texas safely. The LS1 ran just fine. Long day getting around a little weather and alot of heat. Already missing the cool breezes of Oshkosh. Lynell and I want to thank all of the RV10 drivers/builders and spouses at HQ for making our first AirVenture a most enjoyable experience. It was great to finally be able to put a face to the name of the many that we've come to know this past 6 years thru the forums. Thanks for making us welcome and we look forward to meeting up with everyone next year. Please look us up if you are in our part of the country.
Regards to all,
Bill and Lynell Gipson

A special thanks to Bob, Gary, and Neal along with their wives Susan, Brenda
and Ally for all that you did to set up the RV-10 Hdqtrs - super meals - and
just making a nice place to hang out anytime during the 2010 Airventure! We
appreciate all that you all did! My daughter figured out that we drove 6,200
miles and hit 15 states on our little venture to Airventure. Suffice to
say, we are glad to be home, and look forward to that journey in the RV-10
..... This year had the rounds
at an all time high for the "Mush Pot" award as the rains were relentless
for the days prior to show time. Memories will include: a brand new Dodge
4 x 4 stopping, looking down the road (corner of 52nd and Lindberg), and
quickly putting it in 4 wheel drive, making a procedure turn - - - buried to
the axles with all 4 wheels spinning and no forward progress in just 15
seconds - what a mess; The night Airshow was really nice and something
different; celebrating the anniversary of the C-47 or DC-3 and watching
that many (about 40) of them fly over together (may never be seen again)
was awesome; watching the WWII veterans de-plane after being taken to
Washington DC on a special mission to visit the WWII and other Memorials by
American Airlines - very moving, knowing how much my own Father would have
enjoyed that treat as he too flew C-47's in WWII; getting Carroll Shelby's
signature and having him shake my hand and say, "May God Bless You" was a
special treat (Mr. Shelby is the oldest living dual organ transplant
recipient to date); AND I COULD GO ON AND ON! Those of you who have not
ever made it to the big OSH need to put it on your to do list as it IS the
greatest airshow in the world and if you have a passion for aviation, you
will think you are in heaven.
How many knew that Yellowstone National Park was Easter like in July? Well
it is, or should I say "was" this year. Flowers everywhere, stunning - we
even had the ole Bison walk out on to the road right in front of us and
proceed for almost 30 minutes (at) 1/2 mile/hour staying in our lane the entire
time! Around the next corner - bear grazing in the meadow - show stopper.
Badlands, Sturgis, Minute Man Missle Site, etc etc. Point is that even if
your RV-10 is not complete yet, the family can plan a really nice memorable
vacation together in the family vehicle to OSH. Think my daughter is now
addicted and will need her annual Oshkosh fix over and over. Guess her
helicopter ride this year from Pioneer Village added to that feeling! My
wife now wants that rating!
OK, back to the fiberglass... Was great to see over 20 (including Van
and brother Jerry's) RV-10's fly in, as well as many old friends and some
new (at) the show and look forward to another great show next year. Keep
pounding, and glassing away!
