I do not want to interupt the current stream of control system summary information,but at the appropriate time could we look at the Door Latch problem[loosing doors inflight].
Lyles device looks excellent but perhaps some" Aussie farmer" has come up with a simple add on that is" Quite" good[and cheap].

Well, I don't meet the criteria of A) "Aussie farmer" (never even been
there, but I was a Minnesota farmer); B) add on; nor C) cheap, but I did
install a modified Europa door latch system in my KIS TR-1 airplane that is
quite good. 300 plus hours with no door openings.
It may still be possible to buy the parts needed from the US Europa
distributor:

Hello Ted,
Do you have a TR-1? Is it built or under construction?I have a TR-1 and built the doors and latches per the manual except I added a mini dead bolt to the right door, to positively lock that door in flight. I also added a 1" X 4" leather pull strap screwed to the door just above the handle. It has a piece of Velcro on the other end and after closing the door it lays across the handle and is held into position by the Velcro. This definitely qualifies for cheep! Works good, 400+ hrs and still have the original doors!
I can take a couple pictures if are interested.

It seems that the factory door latch system works as long as both the front and rear pins are engaged. It's pretty easy to close the door and have the front pin engage properly, but the rear pin be on the outside of the fuselage. It only takes once and the door will probably come off in flight.
My door latch is totally different and there are pictures on bob's website. I think it's pretty bullet proof, cheap and simple.

I have the Hendricks latch system with 3 modifications.
1 - a strike plate that lowers with the latch (Ted Scott Modification)
2 - a small spring preventing the latchs to wiggle/work its way open

3 - A piece of Velcro covering the top of the handle helping to keep the latch down and providing a "soft" area to lay your elbow on.
After two separate in-flight door opening incidents I am very careful about door latches.

Hello Scott, I looked at your pictures (under What's New on the web site)
and have some questions:

1) In the third picture down from the top there is a cross ship notch cut
into the door sill fuselage top rail. What is the purpose of that notch?
2) How did you cut out the aluminum flat handle?
3) Also in the section marked More Great Construction Photos, third photo
down with the engine description caption, a white dividing line appears in
your windshield. Why is that?

G'Day Ted,
Any Aussie Farmer worth his salt will use some trusty 'fencing wire' ...as first weapon of choice ..... but not quite the answer for the longer term here .hey ..
Have seen a few good ideas so far ... and just thought i'd throw in ... the set up on my doors ... In place of the cables pulling the sprung pins ... on mine the cables have been replaced with solid steel rods that have the ends rounded to pin into the striker/keepers .. A spring helps hold the handle and the pins (rods) in the closed position . ( The two rods lay in a slightly 'over center' and extended position in the closed state ..)
Have attached a pic but the workings of course are inside door shells .. Definitely cheap and simple ...
Hope u can get to idea from my attempt at a description ...
