A little off topic, but my feet and lower back are
killing me after working all day standing on the
cement garage floor. Gel innersoles in my shoes
haven't helped. Has anyone tried the rubber
anti-fatigue floor mats? Home depot has them, a
little expensive, but worth it if they work. Thanks
for any advise.

Hi Rich,
I don't think your question is off topic at all.
I use a stool on wheels to sit while I do most of my work. I think I
bought the stool at Office Max or one of the similar stores. My back
is bad enough that standing for any length of time in the same place
always causes me discomfort while sitting is a lot easier. The
rolling stool rolls under my bench to get out of the way in my tight quarters.
I also use a one step step-stool (a one step ladder?) that I bought
for under 10 dollars at home depot to reach things that are higher or
farther from the edge of my bench than are easy to get.
Those two devices make working on my plane a lot easier for me.

I'm sure they'd be great... Over the past week my thoughts have been on
getting at least 2 of them for both sides of my table... Last week while
cleaning out my garage, I found an old excercise mat made of high density
foam... It was quite dirty and I thought of throwing it away, but decided
just to put it on the floor beside my table... It sure has made a difference
in the way my back and feet feel...

Rich:
I have four of the mats from Home Depot. Regularly spend 4-5 hours
per day on them. They are great. Try them. You will like them.

Richard-
Not off topic at all- I'm sure we all have the same problem. Rubber mats
work- got mine at Big Lots for $20 each (3'x4'). Unfortunately, their stock
changes all the time, so the supply is hit and miss.

Rich, I went to the camping store and bought a barrier matt that you carrier
to sleep on when camping. Hard foam about 3x7 and laid it out by the bench to
walk and stand on. Really helped and was a ton cheaper than the other, FWIW

Sam's carries some interlocking floor pads that seem to work pretty well. You hook them together to fit the desired space and shape. $20 per pack.
