I mostly lurk here just to learn but I want to share this with the list...After reading a post by John Hauck about Second Chantze going back in business, I was excited because I had been flying with an old Second Chantze canister chute that had been installed in my MkII probably in the mid 90's. (I have owned it since 2006). The canister had no date on it anywhere. I called John Dunham at 775-315-0133 and he told me they could repack the chute. I took it out of the plane and John explained how to disarm it (it was an old mortar fire system). I shipped it UPS and Second Chantze repacked it and even updated it to a rocket launched system! I got it back promptly and it looks good. (I hope I never need find out how good it works). Total costs was 850.00 plus shipping to them. I am thrilled as I was Looking at a new BRS for 3500+. Dealing with John was a great experience and I recommend anyone flying with one of these old chutes to get it repacked. I believe he told me they repacked BRS chutes also.
