Juergen,

Quote:
It now seems to me, that the bolt of the front wheel fork is bent.
I do not know whether the bolt was bent by wobbling or the wobbling has
got it´s origin in the bented bolt.
Any suggestions?

I do not know whether wobbling can cause the bolt to bend, but a hard nose-wheel landing definitely can. I doubt that you can straighten the bent bolt without risk of weakening the aluminum fork, so you may have to buy a new one from Europa. I agree with Bob - you should check the nose gear thoroughly (including the long gear leg and the bungee cord tension).

I had some wobbling on my first landing. Tightening the nut on top of the fork bolt solved this, but I found the steering then to be harder then I preferred. I have therefore used the vibration-dampening grease that Bob mentions, in combination with the factory recommended tension of the nut. Apply the grease only between the nose leg bearing and the friction disk, not inside the bearing. This works great. I am away from home for three weeks, so I cannot give you the name of the grease now. I bought it from USA - try an internet search. You need only a small quantity, one application lasts for years.

Svein

Dear friends,

thank you so much for your fast and profound reply.
Yes my Europa is now grounded and I ordered a new front wheel fork.
If I had only asked you more early!
Has got anyone experiences with Mod #59 to the front wheel assembly.
Would you recommend it?
The search for the anti shimmy grease wasn´t very successful.
May be any one in the EU resident can share a few spoon full.
I will tell you about my progress.
Thank´s again

Juergen

Hi Juergen
The grease is called Nyogel 767a, Made by Nye Lubricants, inc USA all you would need is a 50gms Sample pot,
I have already shared my pot four ways but if you cannot source any i can probably squeeze one more from it,
Mod 59 is well worth doing and quite simple to do,   Mod 59 PDF attached
regards
Ivor

Jürgen,

That is a very nice Europa, and I don't see anything wrong with the nosegear.
If you look at the build manual, you should tighten the top nut enough to allow a sideways force of appr. 9kg before it moves.
Shimmy is not a problem when landing on grass.
