Howdy,
I've been dreaming about building an airplane for a while now. While I'm not even remotely ready financially for this type of project, I'm certainly interested in learning more.
Is anyone on the list working on a project around the SE Houston area (KEFD, KLVJ general area) that might find some use for an extra pair of (currently unskilled) hands on occasion? Ideal would be a project that is early in the process.

Matthew, there are RV builders and flyers all over the Houston area. Check out the Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HoustonRVBuilders
They get together once a month for lunch somewhere near Houston (for the non-fliers). You'll find a whole range of builders, fliers and some still dreaming. Everyone is eager to help and get a newbie up to speed.

Also Matthew if you are willing to live without the latest & greatest building a 2 place RV can be quite affordable as much as a 1/3 the price of a high end 2 place RV. On my RV-10 I put in a new IO-540 with a lot of bells & whistles for $45K, my neighbor put a low time used IO-540 for $10K and guess what. His plane may be faster… JERK!
