My newly serviced 582 has a coolant leak and I'm looking for input. The leak comes out right at the drain port for the water pump, but does not appear to come through the drain. I'm having a hard time to locate it exactly. It's a fairly large leak and should be easier to pin down but the number of surfaces coming together at this point is hampering my ability to see clearly.
In this image you are looking at a screen capture of the top case, there is no corresponding hole in the bottom case. I have checked the crankcases and the oil from the cross-shaft compartment and found no coolant.
I'm hoping the water pump cover is leaking but I'm curious about the hole indicated, which also comes out in the same area. Is this hole connected in any way to the water jacket? Is the any source of coolant here except the cover leaking on the water pump?
Any experiance you can share will be helpful as I am not keen to split the case looking for this leak.

This should be a vent between the outer ceramic seal and
the enter seal. If it is leaking from there then the ceramic
outer seal is leaking.
This space is also provided to vent heat from between the seals.

Thanks Bob, went back and sealed all exits from the area and then put a
little lung power into the area, definitely leaking through the shaft seal
and out that hole. Very disappointing to pay a listed repair station for
repairs and have it come back with the cylinders misaligned and the shaft
seal leaking.
Not quite sure what I'll do now.

Fix it yourself. It's worth the education and the knowledge it's done right. There's plenty of help here and on the Matronics Rotax forum.
