Jeff,
We have "Upgraded" 2 XL's and learned early on that it takes a 4X gun and a 5# bucking bar to set the #6 rivets. You may be able to borrow a 4X gun from an EAA member near you. Most of them are being stored in a box somewhere. don't forget to oil it often.
