Rick,  

  One other thought, I vaguely remember reading some instructions for these antennas and I think the intent was to install them under the nutplates that attach the tips to the wings.  That way you get several grounding points to the wing.  You may want to check out the aeroelectic listings on Matronics and his website as well.
