Anyone know the K&N part number for the filter used in the RV-6A FAB back in 1997-98?
Mine has finally hardened and distorted to the point where further washing and re-oiling is pointless - it won't fit back in place.
Thanks!

Bill, I believe you're looking for this one...

Check the measurements with your old filter.

Bill:
Which FAB do you have? 320 or 360
Last time I checked, they used different filters.
Van's Aircraft sells 3 different filter elements.

The old FAB I believe used the 360 filter for the 320 engine. In todays world there are two different filters, and the 320 has to be trimmed to fit around the acceleration pump.

My good friend has an OLD 320 and his filter has the plate and the top does not need to be trimmed for the Accel Pump. Heck... Call Van's... I give up, just trying to help.

Bill,
I believe that Darrell actually supplied the link to the O-360 style air filter. According to the web link on Vans site [provided earlier by Gary]
http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?ident=1289866479-42-384&browse=em&product=fab-accessories
Vans part number for the O-360 filter is E3460, which matches the K&N part number Darrell supplied. Vans site says the O-320 uses the E-3260, which also matches the K&N number. See
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=E-3260
In other words, the Vans part number and the K&N number are the same.

The filter I have definitely had to be trimmed for the acceleration pump, and has the plate in the bottom. The element is still good I think, but the rubber no longer conforms to the bottom plate an has ridden up over the top of it and tried to resume its original circular shape. I can't force the oval plate back into it no matter what - it's hardened substantially in 12 years.
Best I can tell the OD in a circular shape is about 6.25"
