This is true. We bought one of the special charger for our dual 680s from  www.BatteryMat.com . On the advice of our friend who is flying his Sportsman, we bought the 12amp model so it would keep the batteries up when we were sitting in the cockpit for long periods learning how to use our full glass panel.
