Years ago, as a GIS programmer, I started using Irfanview for most of my
graphic editing. I still use it. It is a great free tool for viewing too. I
like it better than the MS products.
My colleagues were buying Paintshop Pro to rotate images and they were
complaining about the cost. I introduced them to Irfanview and they liked it
better. We had to rotate aerial images just a degree or two sometimes to
make it align with over-laid vector data.
If it is a pic I wanna really look at, personally I like to get the highest
resolution image, save it to disc, then view it with Irfanview,. That way I
can zoom in for detail, crop to the size I wanna print (rarely). If you get
tired of it just delete it.
Irfanview is free for non-commercial use and not buggy. I think I registered
it for work and paid a lil bit of money, but IIRC it works great w/o paying.
