Answer my own question....Guess the leads to the battery to be

The 555 timer is a great chip and easy to use. But it takes some fiddling to
get a particular frequency. The exact frequency may be very important-
'close' may not work since we are talking about resonating a tiny chemical
bond. I wonder if maybe this has some bearing on the issue.
