I wonder why the Chinese did not use their own 400 HP H6K engine, I had one of the few examples they built along with a 3 blade propeller.
It was a very smooth engine that adapted to the CJ6 easily.

Is it definitely 400HP?
Do you know what changes they made?
Vedenyeev made a huge number of changes going from the AI14 [260HP],on which the Chineese engine [285 HP] is based to the M14P [360 HP].

Re 400 HP HS6K
As I remember it had a higher blower ratio and higher compression
Originally developed for the YS11 twin engine transport, later engined with turbines.

(correction, should have been Y11, no S)

Richard, there is a gent in this country with a recon version of the CJ (one of a kind I believe) that has a high 300 HP Housai factory production engine. I want to say it was at least 360 HP, but not 400 HP. In any case, he has documented the aircraft and the engine completely. It was a factory produced aircraft. I can't remember his email address, but I can find it.
Do you need his contact info?
