Lucky for sure. The volunteers had a lottery to see who would fly the
re-positioning flight and I was one of the lucky 4.
Just had to spend 2 days stuffing hundreds of folks in the belly hatch
to tour the insides. Some of them were "Super Sized" and couldn't make
it through the tight confines of the bomb bay catwalk. Had to squeese
them back out the way they went in. Made for some "not-so-pretty"
sights. Especially those of the female persuasion.
Also, had lots of gratification assisting the few gentlemen (heros) that
actually flew in the B17 over Europe. A few tears were shed by the vets
and their families.

Hi Wayne,
You really were the luckiest guy, to get to ride in a B17 and enjoy
such a beautiful HDS. Congratulations and Happy New Year!
