Does anyone know a rough estimate of carpet material required for the RV10?

I used scraps left over, you really need minimal to do the four floors and
the baggage area. Measure it the way you want it laid out as mine don't go
to the very top of the back floors so you may need more.

Check the attachment; It has all the dimensions of the five pieces. I bought
a blonde remnant of 100% wool. and dyed them light gray. I have enough for
five more RV10s left over.

The more important question is certified or non-certified. It has to do with the fact that certified carpet is treated for fire resistance - but it is quite expensive ($500-$1000) for just the material. I used the alternative mentioned by Dave. The are remnant stores that sell 100% wool carpeting. It is hard to find and not real cheap, but the remnants are pretty reasonable. Then there are two types of backing - There is the normal synthetic backing and there is jute backing. Both use (poisonous when burning) urethane based glue to keep the filaments in place. It is a lot harder to find the jute backed stuff, but I got just enough for the whole plane for $40. Then you cut it up and have a carpet/flooring shop put an edge binding on it, Ran me $100 for the binding. Total cost $140 - total weight was a shocking 16#.
It may not be as safe as the certified stuff, but I am sure that you can find some fire retardant stuff to spray on the back if you are super concerned.
