Check that the pressure plate is free to move on the pins. some times they get rusty and bind.
Yes I'd check this before next flight.

I've assumed that with new brakes, that sticking would take care of itself after a bit as the pad wears down.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Is ther anytjhing I should check before I fly again.

I had the same issue even with additional springs added to the brake cylinder. Turned out that I had over tightened the bolts connecting the brake pedals to the rudder weldment. It doesn't take much binding to cause the brakes to hangup and generate a lot of heat.

Tom:
This is very common with the Matco master cylinders provided with the kit.
Two things you can do include installing an additional external spring at the top of each brake cylinder, as well as installing a single, long bolt where each brake pedal pivots. If you visit vansairforce.net and search the subject, you should be able to find some pictures. Was discussed at rivetbangers.com as well.
I found that installing the extra springs did the trick for me.

Better to fix before next flight always, harder to fix away from home, and safer at home.

I've assumed that with new brakes, that sticking would take care of itself after a bit as the pad wears down. | The problem may be the brake puck isn't relaxing when the brake pedal is released
Or it may be the O-ring on the brake puck is old and hardened.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?
| First, check that the master cylinder piston rod is coming all the way out. It only needs to be in a little bit to block the fluid from coming back.
If that doesn't solve the problem, check the brake cylinder.
Remove the puck in the brake cylinder.
clean the brake cylinder on the inside.
Replace the O-ring on the puck.

Is ther anytjhing I should check before I fly again. | Well, bleed the brakes again.
