For those keeping track, another joins the flying ranks. I posted on the
Van's first flight page and thought I would post here as well. Although I
don't post much, I follow the posts daily and appreciate the wealth of
knowledge. Thanks to all who have gone before me!
I am pleased to announce that N253RV made its first flight with
Owner/Builder on board Sunday evening Jan 22, 2011 out of KDQH (Douglas,
GA). The flight was very un-eventful - as I had hoped it would be. The
actual first flight (test pilot in command) uncovered an electronic ignition
timing issue (builder induced) that generated high engine temps. This now
resolved - things are looking great.

The aircraft is powered by a first time rebuild IO540 (LightSpeed electronic
ign. + Magneto) with the Hartzell constant speed prop. The panel centers
around a twin Chelton EFIS, AF3400 Engine Monitor, PMA8000 Audio, TruTrak
Digiflight II A/P, and Garmin SL30/40 nav/coms. Panel by Stein Aircraft and
interior by Flightline interiors. The frame was quick build wings and all
else standard. The total projects weighed in at 1698# w/o paint.

I would like to thank a few folks: My wife and riveter Donya who has named
the plane "The Mistress". Stein who really came through with a beautiful
panel in the midst of the D2A fiasco. Vic Syracuse - DAR and initial test
pilot, and David Maib who provided some additional last minute transitional
stick time, and the whole group of folks on the RV-10 Matronics list.
Thanks to all!

Byron Gillespie

Congrats, and welcome to the family.... now to really be IN the family, you need to become a little more envolved. (--;
Look forward to meeting up.
