The 2 SLSA that are cheap and legal for instruction, if being rented are the M-Squared Breeze at $25,000 and the Slipstream ultrasport at  $35,000 my only complaint is that both are open cockpit. the Breeze has over 600lbs of useable weight, being open with just windscreens they wouldn't be feasible for northern use in summer, but at least someone is trying. Falcon Insurance will cover both for instruction.

FYI, the Purolator PureOne PL 10241 recommended is too tall to fit under the stock
Kitfox exhaust, Bought one, tried it. I'd have to take the exhaust off each
time and it doesn't look like that would be fun.

The Taylorcraft is licensed under CAR 4, dating back to 1939.

A Type Certificate Data Sheet exists for the Taylorcraft.

The Taylorcraft has a Standard Airworthiness Certificate, not a Light
Sport Category Certificate:

It is not licensed in the Light Sport Category, however it may be
operated by Sport Pilot Certificate Holder under Sport Pilot Rules
because it meets all the rules of Light Sport Aircraft:

Maintenance, modifications and inspections of the Taylorcraft must be
accomplished under Part 43 rules. By virtue of the Standard
Airworthiness Certificate, maintenance requires a certificated

Good idea Jim. SportAviation had a recent article on a bunch of cheap
certificated LSAs: Chiefs, Champs, Luscombs, Ercoupes, Cessna 120/140,
PA 15/17, Taylorcraft BC-12. All these were claimed to be below $40k and
many were below $30k. Don't know if they'd be insurable for flight
instruction, though.

Gold.

The Pure One as the Fram are slightly less 1/2" longer than a stock Rotax filter.
There are a few instances where owners have a stock exhaust that is a little
too close to fit the filter in over the threaded mount. Some with stock Rotax
exhaust don't have this problem and some just have different exhaust. The only
way to find out is buy one and try it. Sorry there is no other way. Don't
put any oil in it and you can take it back if it is a tad too long.
