G'Day All,

Can someone please verify the torque setting to tighten the nuts that lock the blades to the hub?

Chris;

If you are referring to the counterweight clamp bolts that lock the blades to the sleeve that is already installed in the hub it is 8 Kgf/m or 57 to 60 Lb Ft.
This would apply to both the J9G1 (CJ) and the V530.

Make sure the c'weight clamp is in positive contact with the sleeve flange before securing.

If you are referring to the blade bearing retaining nuts please advise.

G'Day Walt,

I understood that it was 60 ft lb, but was yesterday informed that I was wrong and that the torque setting was 75 which I suspected was to high.

sorry, but now I´m a bit confused. Is it 60 or 75 lb/ft (the last one seems really a bit high)?
And by the way, the 6 nuts behind the prop flange should be tightened with 87 ft/lbs, right?

87 is fine for the prop flange. be sure to use the proper calculation if you're using a dogbone extension, which you pretty much have to. Here's a calculator on the internet:

Looking around for the counterweight figure, and it is tight, but not that tight as I recall (more like 40). Plus, it's a castle nut, so you don't get it right on (could be up to 30 degrees to the closest increment). I'll post it if I can find it.

Yes, the torque spec I have for the prop flange nuts (22mm) is 87 ft/lbs.

Blade clamp (c'weight bracket) bolt/nut torque value is 57 to 63 lb/ft.

Torque to approx 55 lb/ft then to next cotter pin hole if within torque
limit. Torque values given for castelated nuts USUALLY allow for further
tighening to line up the next hole. BUT-------
Whether that is true of Russian/Chinese specs. I don't know! I would allow
only a very smal overtorque.l

Having the advantage of a few spare nuts I can usually get away with
selective fitting. When that fails I guage the amount of turn required
relative to the thread pitch and machine the nut base accordingly.

This is arguably the MOST CRITICAL torque value on the entire
engine/airframe combination.
