You are not required to have insurance, when you own an airplane.

Who are they, the airport managemenmt to regulate aircraft??!!
| They aren't regulating aircraft.

It is not in their purview to regulate that. None of their business. If it was me, I would rather move, or get a lawyer to challenge their so-called authority. Too many people are giving up authority to people who are on a power trip.
| I really don't have to have AIRCRAFT liability insurance. I need proof of liability insurance (of any kind) to rent a hangar owned and operated by the County. It's cheaper to put insurance on the airplane than any other insurance I've found. It's no more a power trip than a dwelling owner making the renter buy insurance as a condition of occupancy. If you own your own hangar, then you are welcome to do whatever you need to do to protect the structure. My airport is just protecting it's investment. This requirement is normal for rental at government-owned facilities ..... that are self-insured.
I'm curious .... do you own, rent a hangar, or tie down???
