I typically cruise at 135KTAS because often my time is worth the $5/gal fuel savings, or I'm trying to stretch a leg to avoid an en route fuel-stop delay, or sometimes trying to lengthen a flight so my daughter gets a longer nap. I lean to max by ear, just barely richer than rough and possibly LOP on one cylinder. JPI EDM-700 shows 1550ish on the highest EGT. I don't have a lot of hot-day data yet, but typically I keep the CHTs well under 420. Same thing, Gary, I can very often get under 9.0gph and have cruised in the high 7's. I'm confident enough in my totalizer that I could get just over 5.0 airborne VFR if the climbout doesn't take too much, but the longest I've logged with the new cowl is 4.5.

Quote: | lean at around 5,000 feet. I'd be curious about your fuel burn. I was able to
get down to 7.8 to 8.2 gph.
