In www.rotax-owner.com, as underlined in a previous topic by Roger Lee, it is shown a new type of inspection (crankshaft distortion measure). It must be used in a prop strike in an 91X engine with no overload clutch (in addition of usual crank run out measurement) or after over running the engine itself.

In the past i heard some rumors of the fragility of the rotax 912 multi-pieces crankshaft. This information seems to confirm that Rotax , not using a monolithic crankshaft , exposes users to not due damages (in 2011 automotive industry crankshafts are practically fool proof)

In addition the price to replace the crankshaft is abnormally high (a whole replacement engine for a luxury Mercedes Benz / Bmw car costs less!).

In my humble opinion Rotax price policy for crankshaft repair must be changed in accordance of their not optimal design.
