|
|
Looking for information on the spacers on the lower gear door standoff bolts... length of each spacer, number and thickness of washers, plus placement.
There are plenty of washers on my friend's CJ's doors on one side plus it doesn't seem to be quite right and it doesn't look like it's mating quite right when the gear comes up based on the marks in the wing skin.
I take the lower doors off for doing the gear swing... is it possible to swing the gear with the doors on? Seems like you'd have to jack the plane up to the moon.
Thanks,
Jon

The spacer dimensions are determined by trial and error measurement and fitting with the aircraft on the correct jacks.
Certainly it is possible (not to mention necessary) to swing the gear with the doors in place.
Contact Doug for the right jacks.

Jon,
The last time we had the spacers all over the floor, the only remedy was to refit the doors with the airplane on jacks with the gear up. Lesson learned, afterward, was to always keep track of which spacers, bolts, washers and nuts went where whenever we remove the doors.
