Hi Bob-
Interesting...is that a silicone compound? I used to have a tube of
Dow Corning Compound, but I don't recall any number, but that was
YEARS ago. Any chance that Champion is owned by Dow...or vice versa?
Sorry, that just the pessimist in me trying to get out. : )

Hey, Bob, you might be interested in my latest project...another
intake manifold for the TBI. The other one was ok, but I'm shooting
for perfection. I wanted to try a bit longer runner length, and bell-
mouthed ends inside the manifold. Ever since I built an updraft
manifold, I've always had cylinder #1 running about 100+ degrees
cooler than the other 3. So I thought I'd make another one, and see
what happens. (Yes, I did swap probes, etc., but to no avail...plugs
always look good, also.) I think I know what the problem is, and if
this manifold changes things, I'll report my findings.
But in the meantime, here are the exhaust pipes as they appear after
using the updraft intake and the Rotec TBI, running lean of peak EGT
for about 360 hours:

Left bank....cyls 2 & 4

Right cyls... #3 on top and that cooler-running #1 on the bottom.
There ain't much broke, but I'm gonna fix it anyway! : )

Good Afternoon Lynn,

The directions on the Champion filter say to use Dow Corning
Compound number four on the gasket. If that is not available they
say to use engine oil.

Happy Skies,

Old Bob
