Carroll,
We’ve had several successes at selling home built projects due to owner’s health or death. We would take pictures of the completed items which showed
The product at the stage each assembly was in. Never had more than half a dozen pictures, but carefully taken and selected. These would be put on a web site
and links would be posted in comments within relevant Matronic’s pages and other websites with phone number, location, price objectives and alternative sale options.
There was seldom a price of that exceeded 65% of optimum retail value on any items or project. They all sold within a few short weeks. (“we”, as in local EAA chapter)
Do enlist the help of your local EAA chapter members if you can.
Hope this helps,

Larry McFarland

How do you go about selling a home built project? For health considerations there is no longer any reason for me to continue construction of an aircraft that I will never fly. Several local builders have suggested that I part it out but it took me five years to get to where I am now and I don't have the heart to take it apart. I briefly offered it for sale on Barnstormers last year but when my prognosis improved I took it off Barnstormers and went back to work on it. Now it seems I must try to move it again. I had almost no reaction to my ad on Barnstormers and am really not impressed with with that format. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks
Carroll Jernigan
