Hi Bill,
I should have included the following details as you noted.
I replaced my brass shutoff with a ball valve http://www.macsmachine.com/images/headertank/full/ball%20valve.gif
That’s described as a ¼ NPT female, 600 WOG (water-oil-gas) 150 WSP type ball valve with yellow handle. I removed the handle
and modified the piece to accept my extension handle. The link above shows the valve as replaced and it works easier too.
On the milk house heater, I’m modifying it to put the heat element above the floor by 24 inches or more to avoid fumes that might accumulate at floor level. Some say 36 inches is better. Will post pictures when the heater mods are complete and on my site.
