I am in the process of installing my main tanks in my Series 7, but they
won't lay down hard against the spars. The outer back corner of both is up
above the adjacent rib by 1/8 to 3/16" like the mold had too much outwash in
it. I sanded the inside corner a little where the tank bears on the spar and
gained some but I am leery of sanding any more and it appears I would not
get enough anyway. I can pull the corner down but I don't really want to
put stress into the fiberglass tanks or the spars by doing that. Can heat be
applied to tweak the tanks or something? The curve over the top doesn't
exactly match the adjacent ribs either.

Me too. I also contoured the ribs in to meet the tank
where it still didn't fit and tied to make this a
smooth area of the wing. I filled it all in from rib
across the tank to rib leveled with a straight edge.
A little harder to replace later, but it looks good.

To the spars, just fill with the right, non corrosive
silicone.

Some made false ribs over and under the tank for the
look. That may cover a few faults too.

SuperFill is better than Bondo, I was told after I did
mine. Sad

Hi Friends,
Just my two cents........ I fly a model three, purchased as kit in 1=
990, finished in 1999. Back then, Denney Aircraft changed the amount of =
twist recommended several times from somewhere around 1/2 inch to around=
1". My buddy put almost no twist or dihedral in his Fox, going for a "f=
ast roll, aerobatic" plane. I put the maximum amount of twist and dihedr=
al into mine, hoping for a stable hands off type of flying. Both of us w=
ere rewarded with planes that met our goals. Those fiberglass tanks were=
designed around a certain amount of twist in the wing. Your wings proba=
bly don't match the amount of twist in your fuel tanks which is causing =
the slight misfit. I don't have any new solutions for you, but thought I=
'd give you some background info as I see it.
