Hi Dale,
Here is some photos of my shop door. If you are really planning on building
one like this, you ought to send me a request for my phone number, and I
can offer lots of tips and advice that a ton of emails back and forth can't cover.
Here's some things to consider;
1) this style of door ABSOLUTELY requires some sort of anti-droop truss system, either inside
or outside, along the bottom rail. I chose outside (the most common), since it will reduce work space when
the door in closed (that's the ladder looking thing welded to the bottom edge)
2) I put 4 hinges on each end of the door to help reduce the tremendous stress as
the door is beginning to open
3) for it's huge size, believe it or not, it really isn't very heavy
4) push button to open, push lever to release pressure to close, effortless!!
5) snow on outside of door presents a little more work, you'll need to clear a path
6) my door is NOT fully open. It can raise up to be a full 90 degree lift
