Jabiru Guru's,

Quick question? Could a loose spark plug lead cause a overall drop of say 400-500-RPM at full throttle? Thanks for you time and consideration.

It doesn't seem to me that it would. After all, you have two separate
mags firing the engine, for redundancies' sake. Now if it were a
*coil* lead, that might be another story.

Jeff,

Unlikely in my opinion, with dual ignition, and even then, the lead would need to be completely off.....

Sounds more like a fuel or air problem. Check to see if you have full volume on both at full throttle. Dirty air filter, collapsing air duct or partial plugged fuel filter or main jet could do this.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself what changed since the last time the engine ran to full RPM. Did it set for awhile? Or, did it run good just yesterday? Don B...

My 3300 was running about 2-300 rpms lower after I tilted my carb to better the mixture distribution. This was surprising to me to say the least.

I later found that the throttle was not moving all the way open because I rotated the carb far enought that the arm was getting stopped by the distributor cap. Moral to the story is that after EVERY change of somehting... no matter how small, operation of all components must be checked and double checked. Non issue in this case, but never take for granted that a small "tweak" or change could have unintended consequences.

All I did was rotate the carb a few degrees.

Thanks for posting -- this was on my backburner to try (my temps are good, but I wanted to see if I could get to them to be better by 'balancing the carb').

Please report back on that... It would make me feel better to know someone else did it too.
