Hope all our Kolb friends were spared from the recent tornados.

Hauck's holler is still in one piece. Haven't had a chance to go over to
the airstrip and check my airplane, but I have a feeling it will be ok. We
had strong winds and rain, but missed all the tornados.

I was wondering about that. Hope the plane is OK. Maybe time to build a bunker for it.

Boy!!

From the sound of things, all you guys in tornado country are getting hammered
this year.

Fortunately, according to my real estate agent, we don't get any tornadoes here
in Missouri.  Whew!!  That takes a load off my mind....

John H, all others,

Yep, I'm kidding you!!  I do that kind of stuff.  We had a tornado about 4 years ago one mile south of the Camdenton Airport.
Killed a man and his wife as it destroyed their house.  Tornados are NOT very useful!!

  I built a 8' x 8' x 7' tall cinderblock storm cellar underneath my garage floor.  It has a 3' x 3' steel grate
lid that you raise to get to the stairs that lead down.

I suppose I should have warned you about my sense of humor.  BTW, I'M a real estate agent ( in
addition to being a contractor, too.  I may kid a lot, but I don't lie.)

I had a good, long talk today on the phone with Rick Girard.  (He lives in Kansas, I'm pretty sure they have tornados
there, too)
I was quite concerned about installing the new aileron balances I made recently.  I just wasn't used to the feel of them!
Because I have droop tips, I need to make the "spades" like Mike Bigelow made, except mine also incorporate some extra weight,
since his were for aileron assistance, and not for balancing.  Scott Thompson built a set of aileron balances that he installed on his plane
that were similar to Mike B's, except his were for balance only, and not for easing the aileron forces.   I sort of just combined the two!!   Mine WILL assist with making the stick forces lighter, but they also balance the ailerons.......exactly.!!

With everything unhooked on the ailerons, and the balancer/spades attached, it is amazing how exact they make the ailerons hang!
Flip them up several inches and after 12-15 oscillations, they both settle down to being exactly level.

John - did you ever go check on your plane yet? I feel bad, I've been flying around so much, I flew over your house last night - want me to go fly to your field and check on your plane?

Bert

PS. Thanks again for the splitter and cables!

Thanks Bert.

My mkIII is ok.

I have been working on the the last several days in prep for my 2,000 mile
flight out to Oregon next week.

It is just about ready to go. All I have to do is pack my bag and load up
my gear.

Will be gone about one month or whenever I get tired and ready to come home.

Glad the parts worked for you. Did you get your Sport ticket?

john

Sorry about this.

Didn't notice this msg was from the Kolb List. Took it for granted it was

We had some pretty good thunderstorms this afternoon. When the sky got black and the wind kicked up enough to blow sand and leaves off the trees, darned if I didn't get a little bit uneasy.

I'm ready to fly West. My mkIII is in A-1 shape. Everything is fresh, including the pilot. Wink

Unless I change my mind again, I'll be flying the northern route to Oregon. Might get to meet Rick G this trip, if he is going to be home about Monday morning. I'll give him a holler when I can narrow down my ETA.

If I get ready I will leave Sunday morning.
