Quick question.

If a standard Yak 52 was OH in Russia in 1987.
Then imported in 1996. It has not had SB 59,60,or 107 done.

Can that be done in US? Or is it only at the factory? If it can be done in US - who and how much?

The SB 59 and 60 may have been done at the last Russian overhaul. Look at
the "G" meter markings if the green ends at +5 then 59 and 60 have not been
done. Also look at the bottom wing root bottom cover. If 59 and 60 are done
then you will see a raised section that is triangular and about 8 inches on
a side. If it has not been done then you will see a raised section that is
square and about 2 inches on a side. Bulletin 59 puts a bigger main spar in
the aircraft and bulletin 60 puts the bigger wing attach fitting.
Bulletin 107 was not issued until the middle 1990's. It was issued to extend
the service life beyond 3000 hrs and is not necessary for any other reason.
It does not change the allowed "G" ratings.
There are no facilities here in the U.S. to do the work and it is rather
expensive.

Herb,
Yak 52's , '87 vintage, should already have 59 and 60 completed since
this was incorporate in the manufacturing process after the '86 models
Many have 107 completed as well.

59 and 60 is cost prohibitive and typically can not be done in the US.
107 could be done in the US, but is also fairly pricey.

I misunderstood Herb's question/statement. I was speaking of an '87
MODEL year and Herb was referring to one that was overhauled IN 1987, no
model year indicated. I am therefore defaulting to George's reply.

Normally all aircraft overhauled from Late 1986 and on had the bulletins
applied. The exception is that some air clubs kept the +5 -3 spar aircraft
for landing practice only. They were marked +5 -3 in 3 foot high white
letters on the side of the aircraft. I think we imported one or two of
these.
