<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Having been allowed to wander off by myself without wifely supervision, I found myself the new owner of a bright yellow Harbor Freight metal stretcher/shrinker, which I immediately painted in camouflage colors, and claimed it was an old war souvenir I've had for years.
Does anybody have suggestions and tips on how to get the best results out of it? I foresee the opportunity to remove a few wavy edges on pieces that I've inadvertently stretched during fabrication, and maybe make aluminum wheel pants. Any tips are welcome. So far, I've learned not to use too much pressure. Crunch it too hard, and the aluminum will pucker up quicker than an ugly girl on Sadie Hawkins Day.

Try this, bend a couple of standard 90 degree L-angles about 4' long. Stretch one and shrink the other into circles. This will give you practice and teach you control. Go slow and keep the steps equal.
Another thing is read books about metal shaping. Ron Fournier wrote a couple of books and has more tools for sale. I used to work with him years ago and can recommend him as a man of integrity.

You might want to take a look at my kit log site, making an aluminum nose bowl right now.
