I have a issue with the Russian comm in my -55. The radio powers up, has tone and side tone in the headset, and shows a voltage drop when attempting to transmit but will not transmit or receive. It worked fine the last time I flew it. I am thinking I have an antenna issue. It is the original and looks to be a powered antenna. Any thoughts or anyone stock a new antenna?
Thanks,
Bill

It is possible you have an antenna issue. FYI, any aircraft antenna
will work. Assuming you have a Briz radio, it will have an "almost" BNC
connector on the back of it. Remove this and put a standard BNC
connector on it as far as possible. Connect that to a watt-meter and
dummy load and test for power out and modulation. After that, connect
watt-meter with adapter to antenna coax. Test for reflected power. If
you wish, you can remove the stock antenna and adapt the mounting plate
to take any standard aircraft antenna.
If all this is too technical, you need an Avionics Tech to give you a
hand.
