WE have had 2 first flights this week in Shelbyville.  

Gary Bowser’s Exp Lightning flew yesterday afternoon with no hitches and only normal adjustment to be needed.  

   

Also Tim Schmidt’s EXP Lightning flew today, hands off rigging and a very economical approach topped off the flight.  

   

Look for pictures of both aircraft in the next news letter, or if either Gary or Tim have got some first flight shots they can put up that would be great too.

I will have an article this months newsletter about first flights. No matter how many you do one will always come up to remind you why it is a new plane and don’t get comfortable.

Right on, Nick, I know exactly what you are saying.  Of the 8  different experimental aircraft models I have made first flights in, the  one that should have been the easiest turned out to be the most exciting from  something that was totally unexpected and not even related to anything on the  checklist.  So your comment about no matter how many you do,  eventually one will have something totally unexpected happen and remind you not  to get too comfortable in the test pilot role.  I really look forward to  your article.  Keep up the great work out there in Lightning Land.
