I posted this querry on Vansairforce net but got no response.
My RV-12 with a Rotax 912ULS works fine. Good weather has allowed me to fly each day for the past 6 days, and I note an engine rpm variation of perhaps 100-rpm up or down while in cruise.
I suspect, but am not certain by any means, that this is due to slight up or down pitch changes that change the loading on the engine.
Doesn't seem to hurt anything, but I'd rather not have to keep an eye on the engine rpm.
Your take?

Caused by pitch changes? Yeah, I suspect that's the case. Do you use a digital tach? If so, those things can almost drive you nuts, because they do report every little variation. heck, you probably wouldn't even notice such a small change when using an analog gauge.
Just my opinion.
