Group,
We have been experiencing a fuel leak in our left tank. It will leak about 1 1/2 gallons and then stop.
The leak is very slow. It takes a day or two to leak the gallon and a half.
We removed the left wing. The attached picture is of the fuel sender. I sent these pictures to Nick about
a month ago and then called and spoke with him. He thinks the leak is around the fuel sender. He said that
he would send me instructions to removed the fuel sender so we can reinstall it and hopefully fix the leak.
After a couple more emails and another call I haven't heard from him. Can anyone give instructions on how to
remove the fuel sending unit. Nick did say that we could reinstall according to the build manual, we just don't
want to mess anything up taking it out.

Earnie,
To takeout the probe.
1. Carefully drill out the epoxy in 2 of the 5 holes that are at the
edge of the probe housing.
2. Use a drill bit that works with a 1/4-28 tap for a long AN4 bolt. Or
a bit that will work with a 1/4-20 tap and go get a long 1/4-20 bolt.
3. Tap the 2 holes but not into the tank.
Run a bolt into 2 of the holes so you have something to grab onto.
4. Evenly heat the area around the probe with a heat gun to soften the
glue.
5. Gently pull on the bolts and try to rotate the assembly at the same
time, sometimes this helps to break it free.
6. Also you can use a flat blade screw driver or paint scrapper at the
edge of the probe to help pull it up.
7 Once it is loose you must sand the face of the tank to give a good
surface to bond to. You do not have to take the original glue down to
the tank, just sand it level.
8. Sand the face of the probe that will touch the tank.
9. Clean both surfaces with acetone to take any grease, oil , or old
fuel off of it.
10. Mix up about 4oz of aeropoxy.
11. Wet each surface by brushing on a light coat of epoxy only.
12. Mix the remaining epoxy with cotton Flox to get a substance like
mashed potatoes.
13. Put a good 3/8" thick bed of this on the probe surface that touches
the tank.
14. Slide the probe back in to the tank an press against the tank, some
epoxy will squeeze out and that is fine.
15. Refer to the manual about putting a strap over the sender while it
dries. This insures it wont fall back off the tank and leave a void.
