Hi all, I was surprised today doing routine maintenance to discover my carb
sockets/boots quite badly cracked. Surprised because I am quite careful to
check everything regularly and they were blemish free only 3 running hours
before. I have previously achieved long life from these and while my idle
was rough recently due to a float problem, it was not that bad!
Any ideas on what life to expect, there is an aftermarket company making
what is supposed to be a better part, I would like to know the name of that
company as an alternative along with any experiences with them.
As always looking for knowledgeable opinion on this, plane is grounded until
I replace these.

You can find the replacement sockets at: http://jbmindustries.com/. I just ordered a set over the phone. They look good and come with longer screws for your clamps.

My original ones on a 912UL (80HP) were 12 years old with no issues. I have recently replaced them with the JB Industries ones. They appear to be excellent quality and fit well. I removed the little spacer on the clamp as recommended.
