I thought there would be lots of tales about the trip to OSH and other 601 stuff on here after "Oshkosh".
What's going on?? Did I miss something??

Hi Bobby,
I went to Oshkosh. I tried to capture it with still images on my Nikon. I failed. It is just too big.
I went to the dinner honoring Chris Heintz. He was there with Paul Poberezny - the founder of EAA. Both men spoke. Paul stole the show. At 90 years old he is still building airplanes. It must be a hobby that is good for your health.
I was mostly interested in the electric aircraft symposium (the second annual, and my second). There were lots of interesting speakers including Sergey Sikorsky - the second generation leader of his namesake helicopter company. He was almost as old as Paul Poberezny and still going strong. I guess building helicopters is just as good for your health as building airplanes.
Perhaps the highlight of the electric symposium was a report about the experimental electric helicopter project at Sikorsky. It only flies for 10 or 15 minutes, but is designed as a project to "Warm up" for future certified electric aircraft production. Another great speaker was Abas Goodarzi - the contractor for the electric power plant on the Sikorsky electric helicopter project. He had a very interesting slide showing electric powered airplanes are very practical with a requirement of around 120 KW per ton lifted. Helicopters need around 5 or 6 times that much power per ton to lift it.
There were over 500,000 people and over 10,000 airplanes at Oshkosh. So, I just told about .00001 percent of the Oshkosh story.
