Hi Nick, funnily enough I just got told that by a jab engineer in the UK about 5 hours ago. Would be great news but my oil pressure was low, in fact worryingly low.
When throttling back with a warm engine dropped to 15 psi, on a couple of occasions to nothing.
I had resisted the temptation to add any washers as I had convinced myself the relief valve wasn’t lifting, on a static test I got 5 bar before the valve lifted.
The pressure must be somewhere in the mix though as it been an issue on both sides of the pond I have learned today!
I understand that hydraulic engines lifters were first high leak and then low leak and are now back to high leak.
Don’t know where my # 1460 fits bit I do know that after 37 hours 3 out of six had leakdown numbers below 16/80. You could see the valves hadn’t been hitting the seats.
Sounds like I need ‘high leak’ but have I got the oil?
To cap that all valve guides are oversized. Having them changed at the moment but when I’ve got my compression back I need to figure the next step as it won’t last only if the valves don’t close.
I plan to stop the pressure pulsing so I can see what the effective pressure is and then figure it from there….bring back solid lifters, I never thought the old tappets was a big issue.
Thanks, Regards, Clive

Clive,
What are u getting for oil pressure in cruise, some of the early hyd engine will get the valves held open by high oil pressure

Matronics you get spam from the guy who keeps telling you the rules but you can send attachments, you can’t (as yet) do that on Yahoo.

Esqual Grounded due to hyd lifter engine woes…valves not closing and so no compression, anyone seen that in their lightning or Esqual?
Problem seems to be lifters are a bit too keen on taking up the slack…

Sorry Earl,
This list doesn't censor like other lists (such as the failed attempt of
the poster to start a Yahoo based group). He has the right to spew as much
bullshit as he wants. It's the right that you and I served the majority of
our lives for to maintain whether we agree or not. It's our duty to filter
through the diatribe based on our own knowledge and experience and respond
from there.
Best regards,
Mark

I had my oil pressure drop to zero a couple of times. It turns out the crimp connector on the pressure sensor was poorly crimped and loose.
