Pat et al,

Since we are busy playing hooky while the Tall Dawgs are away doing
Monumental Things, I thought I'd stick a short WWII story on my web
pg. Click on Next Page at end of book and picture stuff.
regards,
Bob N.

And another kinda coincidence: when I was in Navy Primary Training at
NAS Grosse Il, MI (a large island very near Detroit) there would be a
flight of six or more brand new B-24s, usually line abreast, several
times a day steaming right through our airspace, about traffic
pattern altitude...fresh out of old Henry's Willow Run aircraft
factory. Of course we had no radios, just kept a sharp lookout. Never
had a midair, but quite a few skivvies needed a dose of Clorox.

Maybe George Shinham's Liberator went by? nah...maybe?

Hi Bob,

Those 'fly-by' traditions seem to still be alive. While instructing
years ago at nearby Ann Arbor, I'd occasionally be confronted while in the
pattern by the occasional scud-running freightdog westbound in a Navajo or
Beech 18. It was those Zantop Electras that really caught the attention
though!

Hi Bob,

isnt this a strange phenomenon. On the jazz list I belong to as soon as a
few of them go off to the French Quarter Festival N.O. or to Sacremento Jazz
Festival all the ones left behind suddenly seem to have a rush of blood to
the head and off topic messages begin to fly around like snow. Perhaps we
should employ a shrink!

Cheers

Pat
