John,
I installed the VGs a couple of years ago. I will check later today or tomorrow for the instructions I received.

Subject: Position of VGs on elevator?

I have test fitted the Zenith sold VGs onto my elevator and after a few hours of landings, I see only a subtle and slight improvement.

Given that the directions give no exact position, or even a range, I guessed such that the rear edge of the VGs are 100mm forward of the elevator's spar rivet line.

Has anyone found an optimal position, or is the improvement only slight?

Thanks,John Marzulli

John, you might want to check with Zenith. It's been a couple of years since I installed mine but I seem to remember that there was some kind of guidance given for the fore and aft location. It was a measurement from the spar rivet line if I remember correctly.

That would suggest I need to move my VGs 20mm forward from their current installation point...

I’ve seen a number of people leave off every other VG. That is instead of using a single VG flipped around as the spacer they used three (backwards-forwards-backwards) as the temporary spacers.
