Dear aviators,
I think it is important to get the word out on this.
If you have a WW dual ignition distributor, either dual points or points/electronic manufactured before Nov1, 2010 it may have defective flyweights that can contact the body from premature wear. There are only about 10 to 15 of the suspect distributors, but WW is willing to inspect and re-time about 400 distributors in order to find the few faulty ones.
There is no charge for the inspection, but he does request you pick up the postage. Just ship it in a medium USPS flat rate box with the return postage enclosed. Enclose your name and phone number, flight hours on the distributor and the year/month it was made.
He will inspect your distributor, replace the flyweights if needed, and re-time the distributor on a dual points distributor machine.
To date he has had only 30 or so returned for inspection.
If you want new points, stuff in another 12 bucks a set. If you want to upgrade from dual points to points/electronic, he will give full credit as trade in on a $349 points/electronic distributor. Just enclose the price difference.
Do not send him a distributor that he did not sell you as he will not touch it.
Regards,
