Has anyone measured the maximum angle of attack at stall speed?  Zenith 

literature says close to 30 degrees but it seems to me it must be 

greater (that ole perception vs reality is probably messing with my mind).

i have a weather vain style stall indicator out on the wing... i havn't measured it but is looks about 30deg. is very acurate predictor of aoa at stall.

     John:  I have also gotten to a crazy angle in a power on stall     attitude, I just didn't know how steep the angle.  Had to keep a lot     of rudder in to keep it from falling off on a wing.  When doing this     maneuver are we technically in violation of the FARs since it is     over 30 degrees pitch and most of us probably don't have a parachute     on board?

this is the indicator i use... not very helpful on landing but very useful in flight when just cruising on the edge.

was just trying to give it some scale. i work outside all winter... -20F is a killer on the nails... everything you touch breaks them at the stub... like i said this gizmo is very helpfull . i don't get much buffeting prior to stall...  and if you just want to cruse on the edge looking at nature...just set to redline and it works...  when landing it is too much out of the line of sight and not worth looking at... you fly to flair and chop power..or giver  a little to slow a particularly fast decent.... always too busy to look out side window . you could almost place a protractor on the comp screen to check aoa.... some where asking at ??? deg... level flight is always at green line .. full stall happens at red..
