In order not to have the appearance of an endorsement or solicitation; =
I'm trying to ask a question without naming the company. There is a =
non-Rotax source for the rubber carb sockets. The price is the same, =
but the company claims a 10 yr life due to rubber composition. Has =
anyone had experience with this socket? =20
Thanks,
Larry

No I don't have a website for that. I took my torn boot to my local snow=
mobile dealer who sells Sea Doo (Rotax engined). I showed him my expensi=
ve boots and he came out with a box of almost identical ones. I don't re=
member the exact price, but they were someplace in the $5 - 6 range.I bo=
ught about ten of them and split my haul with my buddy. Neither of us ha=
s replaced since. One way to prolong the life of these is to attach mult=
iple springs (I use four) to the carb, coming from the manifold. Follow =
the other directions about the clamp spacing too. I haven't changed one =
in about 200 hours now.

I have and am using the JBM brand carb sockets on my 503 and have a pair for the 582, also have a pair a spares for the HKS on my Kitfox, the HKS/912 are considerably less than the Rotax/Bing sockets.
Iam very satisfied.

Where are you getting those sockets? I just spent $52 for two of the sockets
for a R-582 with CPS. Rotax recommends replacing them every year for
aircraft engines, and I live in the cold country (ALASKA) and its hell on
them. So where...?

I don't know what sockets the 582 uses. I have the 912 UL. I will check =
part numbers of these this weekend when I get to the hangar.

Hi Rob, he generally has an Ad on Barnstormers, sometimes has them on e-bay, I don't have his phone number here at the house , if you can't find an ad on Barnstormers let me know and I'll post the phone #. He has an ad on Barnstormers, I just checked, I used the search page typed in rotax carb sockets and the ad's came right up.

Hi ! Larry,
I bought a couple of these about 12 months ago for =
when I needed them. I used to race Karts with these on and know how =
notorious they are for failing. Anyway I just fitted them and they hold =
the carbies a lot steadier and certainly look to be of far superior =
material. I am impressed but it is early days yet.

Thanks Rex,
From your experience, will a socket for a Mukni Vm-34 be compatible =
with the dimensions on the Bing 36mm ? From what I gather, they should =
be very close for the socket use. I can't imagine that there can be =
that amount of difference and a different socket for each application =
was made. Unless your, or someone else's experience suggests different, =
I'm going to risk $7 in shipping to buy "Ski-Doo Formula Plus/LT =
89-92, Formula MX/MX-LT 85-92" sockets at 7.95 each.
Thanks again,=20

Larry,
There's two of us Rex's on this site and you may have intended this f=
or the "big pond" guy who I think is from Australia. I have a 912, so I =
really don't know how sockets are going to work on your 582. I'm going t=
o the airport tomorrow and will post the part numbers for the 912 socket=
s.
