Group,
What's the trick to bleeding the dual brake system on the Lightning?
Two attempts today were a failure. I tried "pumping" the fluid in from the bleed valves. One side (left) seemed to go okay but when the right side was injected, air appeared in the system (both sides!).
I suspect the problem is that the loops of brake line connecting the two sides are higher than the master cylinder. Is this correct?.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Geoff, I used a piece of hose connected to a syrindge and drew (sucked) out the brake fluid from each wheel one at a time making sure the master cyclinder does not go dry. Also, I found that if you get the system completly bleed the the brakes are very touchy and when trying to add right rudder for take off, seems as if the right brake get engaged also. Nick has a way of letting the T bar lay back some so when you push on the rudder pedals you are not applying the brakes also. Gary N428GW

Geoff,
Try unbolting the bottom of the master cylinders and rotating them up,
so that the MC's are inverted from where they are now. The design of the
cylinder keeps a small pocket of air trapped in the end opposite the
plunger. Also make sure your brake line goes to the bottom of the
caliper as in last months news letter.
We bleed from the bottom up and the MC inverted and lines fitted to the
bottom of the caliper, seems to work fine this way.

Gary and Nick,
re: Bleeding Brakes
Thanks for the advice.
I think the problem was the master cylinder (and the "T" connector) below the level of the brake line loops connecting the two sides. When I raised the MC (and the "T" connector) well above the rest of the system there was no problem.
Cheers
