I have seen three VW conversions that fractured the crank just back of
the prop that all had the Warp Drive prop. I have also read many
stories on other engine applications and Warp Drive props (but have not
personally witnessed them). I have followed many e-mail threads on the
combo of the Warp Drive carbon fiber blade props and crank damage too.
Can this instance of Corvair crank breakage be a artifact of the Warp
Drive Prop and not so much the crank being nitrated ?? Does anyone
know if Mr.. Langford's Corvair crank failure had a Warp Drive prop ??

Of the four original breaks only one had run a (modified) Warp Drive. Look a
little more than half-way down http://flycorvair.com/crankissues.html for a
description of the four engines and their installations.
